Before you know it, the New Year will be upon us! I wanted to highlight one of our annual Overdrive events that is planned for February 12-14 of next year. Winter Blast is our Overdrive winter retreat-last year we had a great time focusing on what it means to truly know God and make Him known. This year the theme is: Color Your World! The world may think Christians add a negative element to our communities, but in fact true discipleship of Jesus should mean we are a valuable aspect of our schools, families and neighborhoods. We have experienced true grace and know true joy-our very presence should bring grace and joy, we should color our world instead of making it dreary! One major change as well, is that while we stayed in homes last year, we will be staying at the Collin County Adventure Camp this year. Last year we drove around to pizza joints and bowling, while this year we will stay in one place and enjoy all the camp has to offer. One thing will remain-the Winter Games that they loved. Cost will be $50 and the registration forms are available on-line and at church-be sure to get your student signed up and invite some friends. http://rockwithus.org/files/WinterBlastReg2010.pdf

It may be freezing outside, but it is never too early to consider how your student will get involved with Overdrive this summer! Overdrive has put together an awesome camp/missions experience that will both challenge your student in their walk with God as well as provide opportunity for them to serve the greater Dallas community. Overdrive Camp MOBY (Mission Our Back Yard) is set for July 26-30, 2010. This year we will be partnering with Student Life Camp at North Texas University and Christian Community Action. We will be staying at NTU and taking part in Student Life Camp in their worship and teaching time, but during the day will be doing missions in inner city Dallas through apartment lunches and stocking back to school stores. This trip will offer teaching and worship, thus offering the "camp" atmosphere as well as the "mission trip" atmosphere-it is a hybrid experience that we hope will encourage students to understand that missions is a lifestyle, not an event! Registration forms will go out for this trip in January. The cost will be $300 and students are encouraged to send out support letters to raise funds.

I hope your student has checked out AMPD, our Wednesday night event which starts at 6:30 every week. If they haven't, I would encourage you to take steps to get them there, I know once they try it they will want to come back. If you would like to hear what we have been teaching--you can not download my teaching via our website www.rockwithus.org --just click on the link on the home page!
